"USA water and land statistics - if you can help!"
Dear Colleagues:

Platinum Asset Management is a funds management company based in Sydney, Australia. Besides endeavouring to make money for our investing clients, we believe in identifying key issues which affect our greater communities and societies, and communicating these points to the wider community.

You may refer to some of the quarterly and other reports on our website:

www.platinum.com.au

Currently, we are interested in the relevance of water as a scarce resource and its appropriate
pricing in an economic and social sense, and its intensive employment in agriculture around
the world, including here in Australia, as well as the United States, and China, where agriculture
remain key industries, in terms of GDP and culture and employment.

Would you be able to tell us, or point us in the right direction to find out the following?

- What percentage of land in the USA is arable? What acreage is this?
- What percentage of land in the USA is used in agriculture? How many acres?
- How many acres in the USA are irrigated?

I hope you can help. Thank you very much.

Charles F Evans
