Laramie - WY: In-Situ, Inc. has announced the release of a new software enhancement, named Flow-Sensetm Wizard, for the Multi-Parameter TROLL 9000 (MP TROLL 9000) water quality probe. The new software is an integral part of the Low-Flow water quality monitoring system manufactured by the company.
Flow-Sense Wizard is included as a new feature in the most current version of Win-Situ 4.0 software produced by In-Situ. Every TROLL instrument shipped by the company includes Win-Situ 4.0 and the software is updateable via the Internet. Flow-Sense Wizard is used during the low-flow sampling process to automatically monitor water quality parameters at specified intervals to determine whether the sample is representative of the ground water being drawn. The user is guided through a short series of screens, allowing input of all static monitoring data specific to each site, including stabilization ranges for each water quality parameter. Selectable low-flow water quality parameters include pH, ORP, DO, Conductivity and Turbidity. Data collected by the wizard allows the user to closely adhere to and report with compliance to ASTM low-flow water quality monitoring methods.
Once input, the setup data is easily recalled for replication to additional tests. Upon completion of setup, the Flow-Sense Wizard begins logging data for sample stabilization at optimal intervals calculated by the software or as specified by the user. Sample stability is easily determined through visual and graphical stabilization readouts. Once the test is completed, data is stored for immediate review or subsequent export or printout. Data may be exported directly to Microsoft Excel as well as any number of programs using common database output. Additionally, standard output templates are included to facilitate compliance with common ASTM-guided report formats. In short, the Flow-Sense Wizard automates many of the manual low-flow steps, from data collection to sample logging, each of which are time consuming and prone to error. This new software feature is optimized for use with the new Low-Flow Cell from In-Situ.
The In-Situ Low-Flow Cell was designed for years of hard use. The body is manufactured from translucent polycarbonate for strength and ease of sample viewing. All components may be quickly decontaminated, owing to the clean modular design. The opposing inlet and outlet fittings are interchangeable in size from 3/8" to 1/2", with both size fittings included. In addition to the fittings, an anti-siphon check valve and 3-way stopcock are included, offering enhanced system reliability and ease of use. For enhanced flow mix and accuracy, a laboratory grade stirrer is offered as an accessory. The system ships with an innovative spike support allowing ease of deployment, with a large acrylic base offered as an accessory. The system was designed to meet ASTM, EPA and USGS low-flow system standards and is optimized for flows from 0.1 to 0.5 Liters/minute. The Low-Flow Cell is an optional accessory to the MP TROLL 9000.
Low-Flow sampling has become a widely accepted method for monitoring ground water. When regulations allow, the benefit over laboratory sampling is clear when immediacy of data and laboratory costs are considered. As well casings decrease in size, this method also offers an alternative to in-situ monitoring. Additionally, Flow Cells are preferred for monitoring DO and ORP readings that can be altered if exposed to the atmosphere. The In-Situ Low-Flow monitoring system with Flow-Sense Wizard software allows direct flow-through sampling, with the new software automating many of the steps commonly involved in the sample monitoring and data collection process.
MP-TROLL 9000 & Low-Flow Cell Availability
The MP-TROLL 9000 is now available to ship with all options and accessories, including the new Flow-Sense Wizard & Low-Flow Cell. The 1.75" diameter multi-parameter water quality probe is offered in separate versions, with options to monitor Temperature, Pressure, Level, Depth, DO, Conductivity, pH, ORP, TDS, Resistivity, Salinity, Nitrate, Chloride, Ammonium, Ammonia and Turbidity. The probe interfaces with a watertight Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) for water profiling or with any laptop computer or SDI-12 logger for longer-term tests and/or telemetry. Intuitive and feature-rich software (Win-Situ 4.0) is included with the MP TROLL 9000. The MP TROLL 9000 instruments are fully compatible with the "Quick Connect" cables and accessories in the 0.72" diameter miniTROLL product line of pressure transducer accessories manufactured by In-Situ, Inc.
