Dear Roger,

I have 30+ years of U.S. and international water resources and environmental management experience, including in the Middle East, South East Asia, and Mexico for ADB, USAID, World Bank and others - most recently in Jordan for USAID for a water-sector evaluation. I am interested in working abroad on these issues. I'm currently putting together a team for a water-resources rapid assessment in Northern Iraq.

MS Hydrology, BA Geology, Calif. Registered Geologist and Environmental Assessor, Certified Hazardous Materials Manager, and Certified Professional Soil Scientist. Certificates in Business Management, Hazardous Materials Management, and Solid Waste Management.

5. "How can we lend a helping hand?"
Hello
My name is Jasmine Ridley and i am interested in assisting in the development of sustainable water supplies for the people of Iraq.
I don't have any technical skills myself to offer but am keen to be involved in assisting in some way. One way i thought i could help is by gaining the support of the company i work for.
Can you suggest ways that a large company responsible for managing water supplies in southern Australia might be able to assist in this cause?
Thanks
Jasmine Ridley

I have hand on experience for nearly 30 years with the exploration and production of oil and gas. As geologist I specialised in Stratigraphy, Sedimentology, Reservoir Geology, Production and Operational Geology with emphasis on Field Work on data acquisition and Drilling in a technical team-based environment.

My academics were in Business Administration with specialisation in Marketing, Education and Human Resource Development.

The experiences I have in finding and producing oil and gas will be useful to help Iraq in need of locating and managing water resource through the use of mapping geologic succession using high-resolution satellite pictures (Evolution of the Baram Delta since the last 5,000 years, Malaysia) and other geological tools and/or techniques. That document is used to manage fresh water resources entrapped in fossilizing peat swamps environments and as Sedimentlogist I can help to model depositional environments, past and present to finding and producing water from reservoirs described within the various palaeo-environments.

It is my love as a social worker to contribute to the need and well being of others including my Iraqi friends.

Thank you.

I have just completed a study developing a new technique (ARMETT) to detect and map the presence of shallow (<40ft/<12m) ground water in arid regions using only color infrared air photos and digital elevetion models. It was developed in the Sonoran desert of Arizona but would be highly effective in Iraq too. In addition it requires minimal fieldwork and takes only a short time to train people.
Please contact me for details. fielding@email.arizona.edu

I am involved in drilling community wells (and other water quality projects) in Southern Salah Ad Din Governate and surrounding areas in Iraq to provide clean water supplies to small villages and towns. I would appreciate any help that anyone can give me as far as making these projects sustainable after the Coalition Forces leave. It appears that little has been done to provide clean water to the Iraqi people by the government since the late 1970s. International and nongovernment organizations have made some progress towards providing clean water sources. We can use help.
