Job Vacancies

Ministry of Regional Municipalities, Environment and Water Resources of
Government of Oman wish to recruit following senior professional for their
Dams Section of the Ministry as per the requirement given below.

1. Post: Dam Designer (One Number)

Qualifications: M.Sc. in Civil Engineering and/or Ph.D. in design of dams /
hydraulic structures

Experience: More than 20 years of experience in the field of earth /
rockfill / gravity dams and small retention dams, dam safety aspect,
Computer software application experience related to dam design.

General Requirement: Physically fit to travel to remote locations for dam
site selection, Around 35-50 years Age group preferable. Training to Omani
engineers will be an important task.

Job description: Technical advice to the Ministry related to design and
investigation works, Supervision of construction of dams, Review and
approval of feasibility and detailed design reports of the professional
consultants engaged by the Ministry, Site selection and design of recharge
and retention dams & maintenance requirement for existing dams

2. Post: Hydrogist Expert ( One Number)

Qualifications: M.Sc. or Ph.D. in the field of Hydrology
Must be computer literate

Experience:
1. More than 20 years of experience in the field of the dam hydrology for
the feasibility and detailed design level study and construction of earth /
rockfill / gravity dams and small retention dams.
2. Dam safety aspects such as dam break, dam breach hydrographs, flood
routing, erosion and damage due to high floods and it’s remedial works
3. Experience in computations of Yield analysis, sedimentation in the
reservoir, measurement, estimation of PMP & PMF, routing of design floods
and yield assessment
4. Flood protection to downstream area of the dam
5. Computer software application experience related to dam design (e.g.
Dambreak, Hydrocad, Hydraflow, HEC 2000, HEC2, HEC-6 etc.)

General Requirement: Physically fit to travel to remote locations for dam
site selection
Around 40-50 years Age group preferable

Job description

·Technical advice to the Ministry
·Preparing terms of reference and tender documents for hydrology part of the
works in the dams related to design and investigation works
·supervision of construction of dams
·Review and approval of feasibility and detailed design reports of the
professional consultants engaged by the Ministry for hydrology part.

Field of Specialization

· Dam Hydrology Design:
· Dams Construction & Supervision
· Dam Safety Monitoring and Inspection
· Design of Small retention Dams / Water retaining structures

Responsibilities

· Review and approval of the hydrology part of the dam design studies
carried out by the consultants
· Preparing tender documents and terms of Reference (TOR) for dam design and
feasibility study & construction supervision
· Preparing tender documents and TOR for dam Safety improvement works
· Tendering, evaluation of bids
· Site inspections, Site supervision of works under construction /
maintenance

The successful candidate will be required to work in the whole Sultanate
with Headquarter at Muscat. Selected candidate will get the Salaries and
allowances as per his qualifications and experience and civil service laws
of Oman.

Qualifications: Ph.D. in Water Resources Management & Planning

Experience: More than 15 years of experience in the field of watre resources
management and Development, expereince in field of rtioning and calculating
water requirement of various sectors (industrial, Agriculture, and
domestic), institutional development and capacity building

Job description: Applicant should have participation and presence in local
and international conferences, seminars, and reasearchesin water resources
management and planning.

Applicant should be fluent in speaking and writing English language.

4. Post: Water Resources Economies Expert - one number

Qualifications: Ph.D. or M.Sc from a recognised university in the field of
Water Resources Economics

Experience: More than 10 years of experience in the field of economic
analysis and evaluation of watre projects from economical point of view.
Prparing feasibility studies.

5 years expereince in the field at water pricing policies, preparation of
spcialised studies and reasearches in water resources economy, institutional
development and skills and capacities (staff training). Must have
participation and presence in local seminars, researches and conferences.

Applicant should be fluent in speaking and writing English language.

Key Qualifications
A- In Arab Republic of Egypt (A.R.E)

A.1 Sharing the designing team of El–Godirat Dam (gravity dam) with capacity of one million cubic meter, North Sinai Peninsula.

A.2 Sharing the designing team of Talit El–Badan Dam (earthfill dam) with capacity of 400,000 m3, North Sinai peninsula.

A.3 Hydrological study for evaluating the sediment transport volumes associated to runoff water at El–Rawafaa Dam Reservoir with capacity of 6.8 million m3, North Sinai peninsula.

A.4 Snowfalling and snowmelting studies for evaluating the amount of Water that fed the different groundwater aquifers in wadi Feiran, South Sinai peninsula.

A.5 Hydrological studies of wadi Waiter (the largest Wadi in south Sinai), prepare of the hydraulic design for 22 dams for flood protection and development, and prepare Terms of References (TOR), South Sinai peninsula, Egyptian and Italian Governments.

A.6 Connect between the hydrological and hydrogeological study to Simulate the movement of Water through stream networks of wadi Sudr and the groundwater storage;

A.7 Protection and design of works against flash floods for the following areas:

A.7.1 In North Sinai Peninsula:
- Nekhel Town and its surrounding main roads;
- Main road of Gerafi/El-kuntella; and
- EL-Hassana Town.

A.7.2 In Sourth Sinai Peninsula
- Nuewibaa city and its main roads;
- Dahab city and its main roads;
- Sharm El–Sheikh city “Neima Bay and Shark Bay”;
- International road of Nuewibaa/Ras El–Naqab with length of 100-km;
- International road of Dahab/Nuewibaa with length of 13-km;
- Special protection for Wahit Dahab Tourist Village;

A.7.3 In the Northwestern Coastal Beach (at the Mediterranean sea)
- The coastal road of Agieba/El–Nigaila with length of 40-km;

A.7.4 In Assyout Governrate (Upper Egypt)
- The premises and oil line of Drunka area;
- The premises of Wadi El-Asyouty;
- The premises of El-Nazla El-Mostgadda area;
- Industrial area of El-Awamer;
- Electricity Station of Saqoultah;
- Land reclamation of 10,000 feddans in wadi Abu-Sheih; and
- Flood index of Assyout Governerate.

A.7.5 In Sohag Governrate (Upper Egypt)
- The premises of El-Sawamaa Sharq;
- The premises of El-Gallawiia;
- Industrial area of El-Kowther;
- Embankments collapse at the connection of Nagaa Hammady El-Sharqiia with El-Kawther floodway stream; and
- Flood index of Sohag Governorate.

A.7.6 In Qena Governrate (Upper Egypt)
- Railway of Qena/Safaga with length of 223-km;
- The premises of Nagaa El-Amra; and
- Flood index of Qena Governorate.

A.7.7 In Aswan Governrate (Upper Egypt)
- Railway of El-Gaafra area;
- The premises of Awwada, area;
- The premises of Nagaa Helal;
- The premises of EL-Domy area;
- The premises of Abbady area;
- The premises of Al-Naqra area.; and
- Flood index of Aswan governorate.

A.7.7 In Suweiz Governrate (Upper Egypt)
- Economic area of northwest Suweiz Gulf.

A.8 Construct of the Flood Indexes for the following areas in upper Egypt:
- Asyout Governrate (72 main wadi);
- Sohag Governorate (72 main wadi);
- Aswan Governorate (231 main wadi);

A.9 Hydrological studies to evaluate the infiltrated water that fed groundwater aquifers:
