Dear Colleagues, The Department of Applied Mechanics, Bengal Engineering College ( Deemed University ) Howrah plans to hold an International Conference on Groundwater during May 4-5, 2005 with the following themes : 1. Groundwater Use in Urban Areas 2. Groundwater Use in Arid Areas 3. Land Subsidence due to Over-Extraction of Groundwater 4. Sea Water Intrusion in Coastal Aquifers 5. Groundwater Contamination and Contaminant Transport 6. Climate Change and Groundwater 7. Conjunctive Use of Groundwater and Surface Water 8. Submarine Groundwater Discharge 9. Geological Controls on Groundwater Occurance and Flow 10. Use of Remote Sensing in Groundwater Prospecting Abstracts not exceeding one page should be submitted by e-mail to me by September 15, 2004. Full papers should be submitted by December 15, 2004.
