This position is that of the Research Leader (RL) of the Hydrology and Remote Sensing Laboratory, a Animal and Natural Resources Institute, Beltsville Agricultural Research Center, Beltsville, MD. The mission of the laboratory is to develop technologies for monitoring and evaluating the impact of management practices and large scale environmental changes on water resources. The RL is responsible for developing and directing of multidisciplinary and multi-faceted research programs that address issues concerning hydrology, climate change remote sensing water quality, and soil quality, which have national and international implications. The incumbent provides the scientific leadership for the research program, as well as fostering the coordination of interactions with scientists from ARS, federal agencies, state agencies, universities, and foreign institutions. The incumbent also searches for and develops relationships with stakeholders having interests in the lab's research. The RL's individual research targets advancing new physical science and/or remote sensing technologies necessary for evaluating and integrating the impacts of agricultural and/or natural resources management practices and a changing environment on agriculture at watershed and regional scales. | |
