MAJOR DUTIES: As Project Management Branch Chief, incumbent serves as lead on the staff-level, interagency implementation and project management efforts related to the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan, Modified Water Deliveries, and other ecosystem-related projects for Everglades and Dry Tortugas National Parks. Responsible for implementing the policy directions and work assignments set by management assuring the projects as a whole are meeting goals; reviewing and redirecting as needed. Incumbent supervises and manages an interdisciplinary staff of scientists, natural resource specialists and managers, technicians and administrative personnel. Interacts with administrators and professionals of numerous federal, state and local agencies, the public, Cabinet and congressional members or their staff, and various public interest groups.AREA INFORMATION: Duty Station for this position is in downtown Homestead. Everglades National Park Headquarters is located 10 miles southwest of Homestead on State Road 9336. Climate is subtropical with mild pleasant winters. Temperatures seldom go below 40 degrees and then only for a short time. Summer temperatures are usually in the lower 90's with high humidity. Miami is 40 miles from the park and provides all the educational and cultural features of a major metropolitan area. Schools and community facilities are available in Homestead.
