Job Vacancies

Ministry of Regional Municipalities, Environment and Water Resources of
Government of Oman wish to recruit following senior professional for their
Dams Section of the Ministry as per the requirement given below.

1. Post: Dam Designer (One Number)

Qualifications: M.Sc. in Civil Engineering and/or Ph.D. in design of dams /
hydraulic structures

Experience: More than 20 years of experience in the field of earth /
rockfill / gravity dams and small retention dams, dam safety aspect,
Computer software application experience related to dam design.

General Requirement: Physically fit to travel to remote locations for dam
site selection, Around 35-50 years Age group preferable. Training to Omani
engineers will be an important task.

Job description: Technical advice to the Ministry related to design and
investigation works, Supervision of construction of dams, Review and
approval of feasibility and detailed design reports of the professional
consultants engaged by the Ministry, Site selection and design of recharge
and retention dams & maintenance requirement for existing dams


2. Post: Hydrogist Expert ( One Number)

Qualifications: M.Sc. or Ph.D. in the field of Hydrology
Must be computer literate

Experience:
1. More than 20 years of experience in the field of the dam hydrology for
the feasibility and detailed design level study and construction of earth /
rockfill / gravity dams and small retention dams.
2. Dam safety aspects such as dam break, dam breach hydrographs, flood
routing, erosion and damage due to high floods and it’s remedial works
3. Experience in computations of Yield analysis, sedimentation in the
reservoir, measurement, estimation of PMP & PMF, routing of design floods
and yield assessment
4. Flood protection to downstream area of the dam
5. Computer software application experience related to dam design (e.g.
Dambreak, Hydrocad, Hydraflow, HEC 2000, HEC2, HEC-6 etc.)

General Requirement: Physically fit to travel to remote locations for dam
site selection
Around 40-50 years Age group preferable

Job description

·Technical advice to the Ministry
·Preparing terms of reference and tender documents for hydrology part of the
works in the dams related to design and investigation works
·supervision of construction of dams
·Review and approval of feasibility and detailed design reports of the
professional consultants engaged by the Ministry for hydrology part.

Field of Specialization

· Dam Hydrology Design:
· Dams Construction & Supervision
· Dam Safety Monitoring and Inspection
· Design of Small retention Dams / Water retaining structures

Responsibilities

· Review and approval of the hydrology part of the dam design studies
carried out by the consultants
· Preparing tender documents and terms of Reference (TOR) for dam design and
feasibility study & construction supervision
· Preparing tender documents and TOR for dam Safety improvement works
· Tendering, evaluation of bids
· Site inspections, Site supervision of works under construction /
maintenance


The successful candidate will be required to work in the whole Sultanate
with Headquarter at Muscat. Selected candidate will get the Salaries and
allowances as per his qualifications and experience and civil service laws
of Oman.

Qualifications: Ph.D. in Water Resources Management & Planning

Experience: More than 15 years of experience in the field of watre resources
management and Development, expereince in field of rtioning and calculating
water requirement of various sectors (industrial, Agriculture, and
domestic), institutional development and capacity building

Job description: Applicant should have participation and presence in local
and international conferences, seminars, and reasearchesin water resources
management and planning.

Applicant should be fluent in speaking and writing English language.


4. Post: Water Resources Economies Expert - one number

Qualifications: Ph.D. or M.Sc from a recognised university in the field of
Water Resources Economics

Experience: More than 10 years of experience in the field of economic
analysis and evaluation of watre projects from economical point of view.
Prparing feasibility studies.

5 years expereince in the field at water pricing policies, preparation of
spcialised studies and reasearches in water resources economy, institutional
development and skills and capacities (staff training). Must have
participation and presence in local seminars, researches and conferences.

Applicant should be fluent in speaking and writing English language.

Research Projects
Have been associated with various research projects being run in the institute and successfully concluded. Worked on three National Agricultural Technology funded projects on the use of the organic manures for the organic farming, their nutrient supplying capacity and the effect on the productivity. Then worked on the management of different types of soils in Haryana state of India. Worked on the development of the residue management models and using them for predicting long term use of the different tillage operations in India. Worked voluntarily in the IWMI sponsored project on increasing the productivity of water (WATPRO) in different parts of Haryana. Selection of sites having low and high water tables was done. Soil, water physico-chemical properties were analyzed and compared with the cropping pattern of that area.
