$3711/moThe surface water hydrologist works within the Department's River Studies Program in beautiful San Marcos, Texas. The office is located at Aquarena Center-The Landing on Spring Lake, the headwaters of the spring-fed San Marcos River.
River Studies is a multidisciplinary river and stream assessment team whose primary tasks include determining the quantity (instream flows) and quality of water necessary to conserve aquatic ecosystems in Texas.
DUTIES
Performs professional hydrological assessments; develops hydrologic, hydraulic, instream habitat, and water quality models; as well as databases and GIS products.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: (1) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in engineering, geology or other natural science, or related discipline; (2) A Master's degree from an accredited college or university in the above listed fields may substitute for one year of qualifying experience as listed in the Experience section below; (3) A Ph.D. from an accredited college or university in the above listed fields may substitute for two years of qualifying experience as listed in the Experience section below; (4) Must have substantial course work in engineering, geology, or closely related fields appropriate for training and preparation in hydrology and hydraulics.
Experience: Two years working experience as a hydrologist or environmental scientist performing hydrological assessments and measurements, performing analysis and interpretation of hydrological, hydraulic and environmental data, and presenting hydrological and environmental analysis and interpretation in publications and reports.
