"Watershed Management for Water Supply Systems"
The American Water Resources Association invites you to submit an abstract for its 2003 Summer Specialty Conference: “Watershed Management for Water Supply Systems,” an International Congress, to be held June 29-July 2, 2003 in New York City. The deadline for abstract submittal is November 15th, 2002.

The second International Congress: This timely event will address universal concerns, including: sufficiency, safety, and security of the supply; how to manage lands that produce domestic, municipal, and industrial water from surface water catchments or ground water; creation, management, and control of policies by individuals, institutions, government agencies, and non-government organizations responsible for water supply systems; and real-time workshops on education and outreach along with practical public-involvement workshops and traditional presentations.

Presentation Topics: While the final substance of this International Congress will be the sum of many presentations, we are looking for abstracts in any and all of the following general categories. All reasonable topics will be considered for inclusion in the program. General topics include: Land Use; Nonpoint Sources of Pollution; TMDLs, Pathogens, and Potable Water Supplies; Access and Land Use Controls; Water Supply Partnerships; and Sociopolitical Issues.

For more information and a more detailed listing, please visit http://www.awra.org/meetings/NewYork2003/index.html.

Some of the entries in the detailed listing are session titles; others are possible titles for presentations. Cross-track issues may be most effectively considered in workshops, roundtable discussions, and plenary sessions. Let us know if you envision and/or would like to organize a special session or panel, workshop, or an innovative format! Hope to see you in the Big Apple!

Sincerely,
Peter E. Black
