"Groundwater in Ladakh"
I am a hydrogeologist working in the high altitude (>3000 meters) cold mountain {temperatures in winters drop to -37*C) deserts of the Ladakh Himalayas in India for the last seven years. We have been able to develop a sustainable water solution to provide drinking water to the people throughout the year in the extreme climatic conditions prevailing in the region.

Prior to our project the only source of water was based on tapping of surface water resource from Indus or its streams only. This was susceptible to seasonal fluctuations, that is flooding due to melting of snow in Summers (June-August and
freezing of water in Winters (December to Febuary). In the absence of rainfall the only source which could be used on sustainable basis was groundwater. We have developed a very simple and scientific method based on hydrogeological data from >1000 borewells drilled by us.

Studies related to explore and develop groundwater resources based on these data have helped to solve the water problem on a sustainable basis.

I would like to inform you that we have been able to drill and devlop groundwater resources in almost in the entire northeastern part of Ladakh Himalayas and providing safe drinking water to the people some of our projects are marvellous works as far as the hydrogeological studies.

To list a few:

1. Drill the highest borewell (15500 feet
above mean sea level) at North polu at Khardunla mountain range in Ladakh Himalaya

2. Drill the coldest borewell (-35*-40*) at snout of Sciachen Glacier.

3. Drill the heighest artesian condition at an
altitude of .11000 feet in Leh Ladakh

4. Providing safe drinking water to the people of ladakh.

Dear Benjamin Kaman
It was nice to know that you are working as a hydrologisit in Meghalaya. I would like to inform you that we have successfully developed a system to explore groundwater resources in entire himalayas
I am a hydrogeologist and working to provide safe drinking water by tapping groundwater resources
We have drilling rig and other necessary equipment to tap resources any where in the Himalayas.

What project are you interested in.
We can help you to solve your water problems.
Please be free to ask any question regarding its development.

Regards

dr. Ritesh Arya
